Brisbane CBD and South Bank
Hotel ballrooms, conference venues and riverside spaces. Confirm supplier access times and whether speeches and dancing will use the same sound system.
Fortitude Valley and New Farm
Bars, function rooms and converted spaces. Ask whether venue equipment is included for a private booking and who controls sound levels on the night.
Western and Inner Suburbs
Paddington, Toowong and Indooroopilly. For a home or garden party, share any stairs, narrow access and the covered position available if the weather changes.
Bayside and Redlands
Wynnum, Manly and Cleveland. For waterfront functions, consider wind exposure, shelter and where guests will move if an outdoor part of the event comes inside.

A little planning goes a long way
Before you book in Brisbane
- For an outdoor Brisbane event, arrange a genuinely covered alternative with the venue. Summer rain and storms are a reason to make that decision before guests arrive.
- Allow a sheltered, suitable position for the DJ and equipment. An outdoor ceremony may need a separate audio setup from the reception, even when both are on the same property.
- If a Valley venue supplies sound, ask whether it includes the connections and equipment an external DJ needs. A background-music system is not automatically a dancefloor setup.
- For a riverside or city venue, include loading instructions and the person approving supplier access. It helps keep setup separate from guest arrivals.

Venue, sound and lighting, catering, security, a photo booth or a videographer. Tell us what you have already booked and what you want us to organise. We will build the package around the job, not add things you do not need.
Extras are quoted for your event. Nothing is added to your booking just because you tick a box.

How much does DJ hire in Brisbane cost?
The playing hours, venue setup and extras determine the quote. Send the date, location and event type first. If you know your guest count or what sound equipment is already provided, include that too so we can recommend the right scope.
Can you plan for an outdoor ceremony and an indoor reception?
Yes. Tell us the locations, timings and what audio the celebrant or venue is supplying. We can discuss a separate ceremony setup and make sure any changeover is included in the plan and quote.
What happens if our outdoor plan changes because of rain?
Agree a covered fallback with the venue while planning the event, then share it with us. It needs a suitable equipment position and power. If the layout changes before the day, let us know so we can check the setup and timings.
What does booking a Vex DJ mean?
Your music, your crowd, your occasion. Tell us what you have planned and we’ll take care of the DJ, with a clear quote before you book.
Is a sound system included?
Yes. A standard sound system is included with Vex private DJ hire. For a bigger setup, ask about a premium sound upgrade with extra subwoofers and speakers. Upgrades are quoted separately.
Can we send song requests and a do-not-play list?
Absolutely. Tell us the music you love, the songs that matter and anything you want left out. We use that brief to shape the night, with room to respond to your guests rather than following a fixed playlist from start to finish.
Can you help with more than the DJ?
Yes. Standard sound is included. Tell us if you also want premium sound, lighting, a photo booth, photography or video. We can also help plan a full event package, including the venue, catering and security. Your quote will set out what is included so you can choose the scope that suits your event.
