CBD and Southbank
Hotel rooms, riverfront spaces and city venues. Ask about loading bookings, supplier access and whether the venue has a sound system available for external DJs.
Inner North
Fitzroy, Collingwood, Brunswick and Northcote. For a warehouse or pub back room, check speaker positions, nearby residences and where equipment can be stored once the DJ is set up.
Inner South and Bayside
South Yarra, Prahran, St Kilda and Brighton. Share the floor plan for smaller cocktail spaces and beachfront rooms so the DJ setup leaves space for guests and service.

A little planning goes a long way
Before you book in Melbourne
- If you have indoor and outdoor spaces, decide which parts of the day use each. Moving guests is much simpler when the audio positions are planned with the venue.
- For a warehouse venue, confirm suitable power, toilets, access and any sound conditions. A blank space can make a great party, but its hire fee may not include event infrastructure.
- For a Peninsula or Yarra Valley celebration, include the exact venue and access times. Allow enough room in the schedule for setup before guests arrive.
- If the plan depends on outdoor space, agree a covered alternative with your venue. Melbourne weather should not be the thing deciding where the DJ can safely set up.

Can you quote for the Mornington Peninsula or Yarra Valley?
Yes. Send the exact venue, date and playing hours, along with any separate ceremony location. We will account for the venue and setup requirements in your quote rather than treating every wedding as a single-room booking.
Can the DJ use our Melbourne venue's sound system?
If it is suitable for the booking, yes. Ask your venue what equipment is available and send us the details. We will check what the DJ can use and what else may be needed before finalising the package.
What should we include for a warehouse party?
Send the location, expected guest count, indoor or outdoor layout and any sound restrictions. Photos or a floor plan help too. We can then discuss sound, lighting, a suitable setup position and any other event support you need.
What does booking a Vex DJ mean?
Your music, your crowd, your occasion. Tell us what you have planned and we’ll take care of the DJ, with a clear quote before you book.
Is a sound system included?
Yes. A standard sound system is included with Vex private DJ hire. For a bigger setup, ask about a premium sound upgrade with extra subwoofers and speakers. Upgrades are quoted separately.
Can we send song requests and a do-not-play list?
Absolutely. Tell us the music you love, the songs that matter and anything you want left out. We use that brief to shape the night, with room to respond to your guests rather than following a fixed playlist from start to finish.
Can you help with more than the DJ?
Yes. Standard sound is included. Tell us if you also want premium sound, lighting, a photo booth, photography or video. We can also help plan a full event package, including the venue, catering and security. Your quote will set out what is included so you can choose the scope that suits your event.
