Agree the music guidelines early
Ask the school for its music rules and send them through with the brief. Share favourite styles and songs to avoid so the set feels right for your year group while meeting the event requirements.
Protect time for the dancefloor
Photos, dinner, speeches and awards all deserve a place in the schedule. Put those timings together before the day so the music is not repeatedly interrupted after everyone starts dancing.
Check the venue details before the final plan
For a Manly surf club, Newport function room or city venue, ask about supplier access, available sound and the music finish time. The DJ package should fit the actual room, not an assumed school-hall setup.

Need the whole event sorted?
Start with a DJ or ask us to put the full night together.
Venue, sound and lighting, catering, security, a photo booth or a videographer. Tell us what you have already booked and what you want us to organise. We will build the package around the job, not add things you do not need.
Extras are quoted for your event. Nothing is added to your booking just because you tick a box.

Questions people ask
Do you provide DJs for Year 11 socials as well as Year 12 formals?
Yes. Tell us the year group, venue and event format. A social and a formal can have different schedules, so we will build the brief around what you are organising rather than treating them as the same night.
Can we request clean versions and approve the music direction?
Yes. Send the school's music requirements, your favourite styles and a do-not-play list. We agree the boundaries in the brief so the DJ can respond to the crowd within them.
Can you include a microphone for speeches and awards?
Yes, include that requirement in your enquiry. Tell us what the venue already provides and whether speeches happen in the same room as the dancing so the right equipment can be included in the quote.
Can you organise the venue and other parts of the social?
Yes. Ask about a full event package if you need help with the venue, catering, security or other suppliers as well as the DJ. We will work through the scope with the organiser and make clear what the package includes.
What does booking a Vex DJ mean?
Your music, your crowd, your occasion. Tell us what you have planned and we’ll take care of the DJ, with a clear quote before you book.
Is a sound system included?
Yes. A standard sound system is included with Vex private DJ hire. For a bigger setup, ask about a premium sound upgrade with extra subwoofers and speakers. Upgrades are quoted separately.
Can we send song requests and a do-not-play list?
Absolutely. Tell us the music you love, the songs that matter and anything you want left out. We use that brief to shape the night, with room to respond to your guests rather than following a fixed playlist from start to finish.
Can you help with more than the DJ?
Yes. Standard sound is included. Tell us if you also want premium sound, lighting, a photo booth, photography or video. We can also help plan a full event package, including the venue, catering and security. Your quote will set out what is included so you can choose the scope that suits your event.
